The first time I ever felt proud of something I wrote was when an old teacher of mine gave me a book. Inside the first page, written in black pall point pen, it read. “Edwin, Your poetry is so inspiring! I hope you continue to write more as it is a powerful way to make meaning and sense in life. I know this journal has a silly title but I have no doubts that poems that find their way on these pages will be nothing- shot of exceptional! Keep Writing! – Ms. Franzini.” These words soon after became my words of purpose. Quite frankly, it felt like the first time I was ever heard in my life. My words had finally received their call from someone I couldn’t had imagine and I had never felt the same since. So, this leads me to this portfolio dedicated to multiple words of purpose. In a sense, my words on this site will be nothing but aiming to be motivational. I recently explored the art behind working out effortless in order to gain that dream physique many may think about achieving. In my efforts I heard the words of many people doing the same. They scream out words of purpose, perseverance, and strength. They yell at each other constantly to keep going. To never stop. To never stick to the comforts of average life. Rather, to seek the life that one can truly smile at and live like no tomorrow. A life where one can finally look in the mirror and be proud of themselves in more ways than one. I am on this journey myself, so I must create this portfolio as a means of recording my mentality and work in completing that goal.
From here, my plan for my literary selfie is to maybe write or maybe record a video of myself or maybe an audio recording where I develop who I am as a literary person today. My view on the world today is simple and the content I like to consume is motivational and ranges from video to simple words of affirmation. So, I am planning to do the same as my old teacher did with me. Convey a message where I am one who made synergy with life itself by seeking refuge with any kind of words with motivational purpose. In which ever way I decide to develop my selfie I would like to start with a phrase that means while to me and show how I incorporate that into my own writing. As with whichever way I choose, I would like for this piece to show ‘meaning and sense in life.’ Maybe I would record the audio while I am in the gym, or maybe I would develop a video instead. If I so choose to go about a written piece, I would write in a flow of stream of consciousness to let myself be more apparent and to show how far these words have made me go.
